Been quite a day for strangeness. Power outages in San Francisco, and reportedly other cities. A monstrous pile-up on the 202 this morning, involving 10 cars. Drove past it on the way into work, and the scene included a car literally in two pieces; somehow, no-one was severely hurt. And then there was this:
No admittance into Chase Field right now, even for media. It's being called a "situation" by security. pic.twitter.com/UUzIjQhnzG

No-one saying exactly what happened, but according to KTAR, "A source inside Chase Field said they were told a police dog had alerted to something, but that was not confirmed by law enforcement officials." Everything seems to be back to normal now though, and the team issued a brief statement on Twitter: "Security was investigating a suspicious situation as the safety of our fans is of the utmost importance. All is now clear." I'm sure this is all somehow the fault of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but I'm still working out specifics of how exactly they can be blamed.
I hope it doesn't portend anything ominous for tonight's game. We've already had our Dumb Baseball Injury for the day, with Madison Bumgarner about to miss 6-8 weeks due to a dirt-bike accident. Perhaps the Puig can be eaten by piranhas in the Chase Field pool. Works for me. I have been cheered. however, by the realization that we do not have to face Clayton Kershaw this series, which significantly improves the odds of the D-backs being able to win this series. If the offense could show up, get a few hits with runners in scoring position, that would likely help our chances.
Twin-headed beercap, with edbigghead and Turambar, so victory will likely help decrease the chances of tables being flipped as well... :)
