Arizona 2, San Francisco 6

Andrew Villa-USA TODAY Sports

The Diamondbacks bats were flaccid and the hosting San Francisco Giants with the pitching of Matt Cain had a lot to do with it. Cain allowed one run over five innings and his performance overshadowed the somewhat solid start by the Diamondbacks Shelby Miller. In his second start of the season Miller went five innings and surrendered three runs.

A.J. Pollock started the game off properly with a triple and scored on the ensuing sacrifice fly by David Peralta. The Giants would score the next six runs before the Diamondbacks added a run in the eighth.

The 6-2 loss dropped Arizona to 7-3 this season but no matter, as they are still in first place in the National League West. The Diamondbacks have Thursday off before heading to Los Angeles for a four game set. On Friday Zack Greinke squares off against Clayton Kershaw.
