Arizona Diamondbacks Spring Training Gameday Thread, #14: 3/9 vs. Chicago White Sox

Corbin’s third start, and it’d be nice if he could end the recent streak of mainly troubling outings from our rotation.

Quick update on the Socrates Brito situation, which Torey Lovullo addressed during the media session this morning.

That appears to make it certain he will be unavailable for Opening Day, in less than four weeks, and we’re probably looking at early June, if all goes well, before Socrates is back. In terms of a replacement, Jeremy Hazebaker and Gregor Blanco have been seeing almost the same amount of playing time so far this spring: Hazelbaker has had 23 appearances, but Blanco is just behind, on 22, and is starting today, so will thus likely overtake his rival by the end of the afternoon. Arcia is on 21 PA, so is there or thereabout as well, and is also playing here.

Corbin makes his third start today, his second having been not as good as his first, allowing three hits, two walks and two earned runs over three innings. If the pattern we’ve seen is maintained, he’ll be looking to go four innings here, and probably throw around 65 pitches, up from 49 last time out. There is no apparent local TV or radio coverage for this one, so you’ll either be dealing with Gameday or finding a White Sox feed somewhere.
