First cuts of the season were made this morning, with four pitchers being re-assigned to minor-league camp, meaning the Diamondbacks now have 59 players left in camp. Gone are:
- Miller Díaz, RHP
- Joey Krehbiel, RHP
- Yuhei Nakaushiro, LHP
- Josh Taylor, LHP
No particular shocks in terms of those expected to make the team, while Diaz and Krehbiel both had double-digit ERAs. Perhaps a bit surprised Taylor and Nakaushiro were gone so quickly: the former had a pair of scoreless innings and the latter allowed one run over three frames. That does thin out the herd of potential left-handed relievers a bit though.
Walker makes his second start after a solid outing first time up, tossing a pair of scoreless innings, on two hits, with no walks and three strikeouts. This will also be the last we see of Goldschmidt in a Diamondbacks uniform for a bit, as he’ll be now heading off to join Team USA for the World Baseball Classic. The game can be heard on the radio, but note, it’ll be found on ESPN Phoenix 620.
