The Arizona Diamondbacks made 4 roster moves and have 33 players left in camp.

Reassigned to Minor League camp:

C Hank Conger

RHP Rubby De La Rosa

OF Reymond Fuentes

INF Kristopher Negrón

All four were non-roster invitees, and there’s not much in the way of surprises here. De La Rosa is still recovering from his elbow issue, and has yet to appear in any Cactus League action. Interestingly, it appears that Rubby is an Article XX(B) free agent, which means the team had a deadline to tell him whether or not he was on the roster. Per the article, if our other such man, Gregor Blanco doesn’t make it, we can pay him $100,000 and send him to the minor, or the player can decline the payment and become a free-agent. It’s not clear if a similar situation applies to De LA Rosa.

Fuentes spent most of spring at the World Baseball Classic, but stood out in his brief time at Salt River Fields, posting a .625 (!) average, going 10-for-16 with a pair of home-runs. Negron has actually appeared in easily the most games of any Diamondback, playing 25 times, though his line of .240/.321/.340 is nothing to write home about. Conger, like De La Rosa, has sat out the entirety of spring, in the catcher’s case, apparently the result of a strained oblique suffered on Feb 16.
