Arizona Diamondbacks Spring Training Gameday Thread, #16: 3/11 vs. San Francisco Giants

We complete the third sweep around the rotation today, as Robbie Ray takes on the Giants. But there’s another question...

Diamondbacks line-up

  1. Gregor Blanco, CF
  2. David Peralta, RF
  3. Brandon Drury, 2B
  4. Jake Lamb, 3B
  5. Chris Owings, SS
  6. Chris Herrmann, C
  7. Ketel Marte, DH
  8. Jeremy Hazelbaker, LF
  9. Kristopher Negrón, 1B
+ LHP Robbie Ray, RHP Kevin Jepsen, RHP Tom Wilhelmsen, RHP Evan Marshall, RHP Tyler Jones, RHP Erik Davis, RHP Jimmie Sherfy, RHP Frank Duncan, LHP Jared Miller

A name I note is not in the line-up is Yasmany Tomas. I should say, “not in the line-up again,” as his last Cactus League appearance was now five days ago, on March 6 against the Royals. He did start against Team Mexico, but even there, went ohfer, and so is still looking for his first hit on the spring campaign. His absence of late is thus... a bit curious, I’d say. Maybe there’s a technical issue, which is best worked on out of sight, in the Salt River Fields’ batting cages? I’m just speculating here. Info on Tomas has been notable by its absence of late.

Anyway, this one is available on all media, being broadcast both on Fox Sports Arizona and also over Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. So there’s no excuse! I’m looking forward to seeing how Ray looks: like Taijuan Walker yesterday, he has been solid in his first two starts, but Walker set the bar really high against the Brewers. Lot of names listed among the backup pitchers today: not quite sure why.
