Diamondbacks line-up

  1. A.J. Pollock CF
  2. Jack Reinheimer 3B
  3. Chris Herrmann DH
  4. Oswaldo Arcia RF
  5. Jason Pridie 1B
  6. Jeremy Hazelbaker LF
  7. Chris Iannetta C
  8. Nick Ahmed SS
  9. Domingo Leyba 2B
+ RHP Taijuan Walker, RHP J.J. Hoover, RHP Keyvius Sampson, LHP Jorge De La Rosa, LHP Brian Matusz

Walker looks to continue his good start to the season, which has see him throw first two innings, then three innings, without allowing a run. It has been a rough third go through the rotation for our starters, and we’ll see if Walker (today) and Robbie Ray (tomorrow) can buck that trend. Iannetta gets the start behind the plate: interesting to look at the breakdown of playing time for our catchers so far.

  1. Chris Herrmann, 17 PA (not all as catcher)
  2. Oscar Hernandez, 15 PA
  3. Jeff Mathis, 10 PA
  4. Chris Iannetta, 8 PA
  5. Josh Thole, 7 PA
  6. Matt Jones, 1 PA

It does seem that the team wants to get a good look at Hernandez. He caught Walker’s last outing, and got rave reviews from Taijuan, so interesting to see the team mixing it up. But I believe Torey Lovullo is intending to give as many of the possible combos of pitchers (both starters and relievers) and catchers a shot to work together in games as possible.
