Hope you all had a great Christmas yesterday. If you - like me - were too busy watching traditional yuletide season movies (by which I mean things like Die Hard and Gremlins, not this sloppy Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story nonsense), you might have missed Arizona Diamondbacks’ first-round pick Pavin Smith winning the Internet with this gift to his parents.
Thank you for everything you have done for me! This doesn’t make up for any of it. Love you both so much. Our home is finally all YOURS. Merry Christmas! pic.twitter.com/h9wog2HfHv

#Boom. #DropsHollyDecoratedMic. That’s why Mister Smith is a first-round pick in your social media keeper league. For I’m fairly sure nothing the D-backs Tweeted out this year got over sixteen thousand likes. Of course, it helps a bit there, when everywhere from ESPN through the Washington Post to Inside Edition picked up on the feel-good Christmas story and ran with it. But it was still a lovely moment, and it makes me all the more glad he’s one of us! [Hitting .318 in his professional debut didn’t hurt...]
I’ll be dropping this post on SnakePit Jr’s Facebook wall as an early hint for 2018. Though unless a professional league of sarcasm opens up in the next twelve months, I’m not holding my breath. :)
