The American League Division Series both get under way today.

MLB: AL Wildcard-Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

1:08pm: Red Sox @ Astros

Chris Sale (17-8, 2.90 ERA) vs. Justin Verlander (15-8, 3.36 ERA)

Old money versus new money, or something like that, with the historic veterans from Fenway traveling to Texas to take on a team who has gone from the outhouse to the penthouse pretty quickly. The Astros will be leaning on their big trade deadline pick-up to get their post-season campaign underway, but they will have to go through the Red Sox Ace to do so. Houston were eight games better in the regular season.

4:38pm: Yankees @ Indians

Sonny Gray (10-12, 3.55 ERA) vs Trevor Bauer (17-9, 4.19 ERA)

A tale as old as time... New York will have to circle the wagons after using their bullpen for 823 innings during the wild-card game on Tuesday night. Fun to see a former D-back starting Game One for the Indians - providing, of course, he didn’t sneak out in the middle of the night for a little surreptitious droneage... The Indians piled up a league best 102 wins in the regular season, 11 more than the Yankees managed.
