I don’t know how to express myself right now. A wise man would blame it on the booze I drank tonight. A wiser man would realize it would be because we just watched one of the most stressful and intense games in Diamondbacks history.
The D’backs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after 3 innings. With Greinke, it seems like a trip to the NLDS was already in the books. Except it was anything but.
Because then it was 6-4.
Then 6-5....
Then, after Louvello somehow lets Mathis bat with runners on in a 1 run game, Archie Bradley does the unthinkable...
8-5!!! RBI TRIPLE FOR ARCHIE!!!!
So we’re in the clear, right?
Nope. In the top of the 8th, Archie gives up back-to-back homers to Arenado and Story.
8-7.... and Rodney is coming in the 9th.
Luckily, our bats decided to forgo that dilemma, adding 3 more runs in the bottom of the 9th, with a 2 run triple from Pollock and followed up by a two-out bunt single?! from Jeff Mathis?!?!?!
11-7!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rodney would come up in the 9th with a 4 run lead. He gave up a leadoff single that advanced to third on two fielders’ indifferences and would score on a CarGo single. But oddly enough, Rodney didn’t really make the 9th that scary, getting Arenado to ground out to end the game with a final score of:
11-8!
There should be another recap coming up shortly after this. But in the meantime, I’m going to pick out my comment of the day to hotclaws, helping me out in the middle of an existential writer’s crisis:
hotclaws summed this game up better than I ever could have.
WE’RE COMING FOR YOU L.A.!
