The D-backs ended the year in emphatic style.

Robbie Ray pitched only 1.2 innings this afternoon in Kansas City - a strange number, but one which qualifies him for the ERA leaderboard. He allowed a solo home-run to Eric Hosmer (in probably his last game as a Royal) an finished the season with an excellent 2.89 ERA. Thereafter, it was a bullpen game, with seven relief pitchers used. Silvino Bracho was the most impressive, striking out five in 1.2 innings of work. Anthony Banda was the only one of the seven to allow a run.

However, it was the offense who got it done, and mostly the B-guys. The D-backs scored 12 unanswered runs from the fifth inning home, with Jeremy Hazelbaker’s three-run homer breaking it open. Gregor Blanco had three hits, two walks and a trio of stolen bases, while Ildemaro Vargas also had three hits, scoring three times and driving in four. Hazelbaker, Brandon Drury and Chris Herrmann each had two hits.

red_leader will be along with the full recap later. For now, the D-backs finish the season with 93 wins, a perfect turnaround from last year, when they had 93 losses. And, next time, it counts...
