The first phase kicks off tonight on Fox Sports Arizona, at 6pm. The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and FOX Sports Arizona are teaming up for their annual Television Broadcast Fundraiser, which will benefit Goldy's Fund for Kids and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Beginning at that point, fans can either call in (602-462-3899) or go online to donate. There are two levels of donation:
- $44 gets you a mystery ball, signed by a current Diamondbacks player. Maybe it’ll be Paul Goldschmidt. Maybe it’ll be Dominic Leone. You never know...
- $100 gets you a whole bunch of stuff, as shown below. A Paul Goldschmidt print; a Goldie bobblehead; a commemorative “Go Gold” T-shirt; a bottle of game-used dirt from Chase Field; and a mystery ball.
The phone lines and website for donations will close at the end of the post-game show, and fans should receive their items by mail in about 3 to 5 weeks. Below, Paul Goldschmidt’s wife Amy talks to Todd Walsh about the fundraiser.
The following night, the focus shifts to Chase Field, where the D-backs will be hosting Go Gold night, to raise awareness of, and funds for the fight against childhood cancers. The team have hosted this event for the past three seasons, and this tome will include a $100,000 check presentation to the PCH Foundation from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, and a special pre-game ceremony to honor doctors and nurses. Childhood cancer survivors in gold jerseys will also take the field alongside the D-backs.
Go Gold T-shirts will be available for a $10 donation at section 132, and the T-shirts which the Diamondbacks’ players wore during batting practice, will be available for purchase at D-backs Authentics during the game - the proceeds will benefit childhood cancer charities via the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. Players, coaches and on-field personnel will be wearing gold ribbon decals and wristbands to further promote awareness for childhood cancer throughout the game. Fans can purchase a special ticket package that includes a D-backs Go Gold T-shirt and a portion from the tickets sold will be donated to charities focusing on fighting childhood cancer.
