Triple-A Reno 3 @ Sacramento 5. A four-run first against Billy Buckner (above) was all the River Cats would need, even though he then settled down and worked five innings without further damage. He allowed seven hits and three walks, with three K’s. Reno were held to three hits; CF Socrates Brito singled, stole a base and and walked, while RF Mitch Haniger tripled; each man drove in a run.
Double-A Mobile 5, Montgomery 3. LF Rudy Flores hit his fifth home-run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth which overturned a 3-1 deficit for the BayBears. 1B Kevin Cron and DH Travis Denker each singled and walked. John Omahen got the W, for seven innings of three-run ball, on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Joey Krehbiel and Zac Curtis closed the door with hitless relief innings.
High-A Visalia 3 @ Stockton 4. Gabriel Moya blew a save in the ninth, surrendering a two-run homer with one out that gave the Ports a walk-off win. Emilio Vargas pitched well, holding Stockton to two runs (one earned) over five frames. He allowed four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. 2B Henry Castllo got his 12th homer, and singled, while C Tyler Baker drew a pair of walks for the Rawhide.
A-ball Kane County 5 @ Quad Cities 2. Alex Gunn got his first W as a Cougar, working six innings and being charged with two runs on six hits and a walk, fanning a pair. Cody Clark worked two hitless innings of relief, and Austin Mason came in to leave the based loaded in the ninth. CF Marcus Wilson led the offense, getting a double and two singles, while 3B Fernery Ozuna doubled, walked and stole a base, but did commit an error.
A-short Hillsboro 8 @ Spokane 5. CF Ben DeLuzio reached base four times, on three hits and a walk, stealing two bases as well. C Alexis Olmeda also picked up three hits and a walk, driving in two. LF Jason Morozowski hit his eighth home-run. Anfernee Benitez got the W, scattering seven hits and a walk ove five innings, leading to two earned runs. He had two K's. Rookie Missoula 15 @ Helena 11. The Osprey pounded out 20 hits. 3B Kai Simmons was a triple short of the cycle, and drove in four, 2B Paxton de la Garza had three hits and three RBI. Both men homered, as did RF Juan Aruajo and C Ryan January. Alex Gouin worked six innings, on six hits and a walk with four K's, and two earned runs. The Missoula bullpen did concede a nine-run eighth, though fortunately, had a 13-run lead at the time.
