High-A Visalia 7, Stockton 6. After rushing out to a six-run lead through four, the Rawhide had to withstand a furious Ports comeback, climaxing in a two-run ninth that left the tying run in scoring position. Cameron Gann got an ugly sixth save. Joel Payamps got the win, allowing four runs over 5.2 innings on eight hits and three walks, with three strikeouts. CF Colin Bray led the offense with two doubles and a walk, and LF Cody Regis also had two hits and a base on balls for Visalia.
A-ball Kane County 6, Wisconsin 2. DH Luis Alejandro Basabe had his first home-run and also tripled, driving in four runs for the Cougars. LF Gerard Hernandez had two hits and a walk, also stealing a base. Kane County tied things up with a two-run third, and blew the game open with a four-run seventh, highlighted by Basabe’s three-run shot. Carlos Hernandez allowed two runs in six, on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts, and Austin Mason improved to 5-0 with three innings of shutout relief.
A-short Hillsboro 6, Vancouver 5. Both starters were gone by the middle of the fourth, but the game entered the ninth all square. CF Jason Morozowski then walked it off, opening the bottom of the ninth with his fourth home-run; he scored twice and drove in a pair. SS Mark Karaviotis doubled, singled and walked, and C Alexis Olmeda had two hits. Wei-Chieh Huang fanned six in 3.1 relief innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. Mack Lemieux allowed three runs in four innings, and Tommy Eveld got the win for a scoreless ninth.
Rookie Missoula 7, Orem 12. An ugly night for the Osprey pitchers, who gave up 12 hits and 9 walks. And that, after the offense had chased the Owlz starter after one out on their way to a 4-0 lead. Orem responded with 12 unanswered runs; Alex Gouin was pounded for nine runs (six earned) in 2.2 innings, on seven hits with two walks and four K's. LF Bryan Araiza got three hits and drove in two, while 3B Eudy Ramos and RF Logan Soole each got a double and single, driving in two.
AZL D-backs 3, Angels 6. The D-backs kept it close through seven, where the game was tied at two, but the Angels broke it open late. Alex Gunn worked five relief innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, with no walks and four K’s. Oliver Polanco worked a pair of scoreless frames. CF Eduardo Diaz got two hits and a walk, as did 3B Joey Rose; Rose scored twice, and Diaz stole a base.
