Triple-A Reno 3 @ Nashville 2. Shelby Miller took a shutout into the eighth inning, and the Aces held on for a road win against the the Sounds. Miller worked 7.1 frames, allowing two runs, while scattering 10 hits. He walked none and struck out nine. It took Reno four relievers to get the final five outs, Silvino Bracho getting the save and stranding the tying run on base. DH Peter O’Brien hit his 22nd homer, and SS Jack Reinheimer got a pair of singles.
Double-A Mobile 13 @ Montgomery 3. The BayBears slugged their way past the Biscuits, led by 3B Travis Denker’s 11 total bases - he had his 10th and 11th homers among his four hits. SS Dawel Lugo scored four runs and finished a triple short of the cycle, with his third home-run, and C Eduardo de Oleo had two hits, driving in three. An eight-run fourth made a winner of Austin Wright, who pitched two scoreless relief innings. Starter Vincente Campos allowed a run over four innings, on three hits and no walks, with two strikeouts.
High-A Visalia 1, Stockton 2. Alex Young was the unlucky loser, holding the Ports to two runs over six innings - he scattered nine hits, but walked none and struck out three. But the Rawhide offense was largely handcuffed, managing only six hits and one walk. 3B Marty Herum drove in Visalia’s only run, with their only extra-base hit, a doubled in the first which game them a brief 1-0 lead. But Stockton scored in the second and third, and the home team didn’t get a runner past first thereafter.
A-ball Kane County 0, Wisconsin 3. The Cougars were blanked on five hits by the Timber Rattlers. 2B Luis Basabe and 3B Fernery Ozuna each got a single and a walk, but Kane County went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Emilio Vargas worked five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, with no walks and a pair of strikeouts. Cody Clark struck out four, over three scoreless innings of relief.
A-short Hillsboro 4, Vancouver 6. C Luke Lowery reached base three times, on a pair of singles and a walk, and also stole two bases, but it wasn’t enough as the Hops were outhit 14-11 by the Canadians. Starter Anfernee Benitez had a rough one, scattering ten hits over five innings, allowing five runs. He walked one and struck out four. LF Jason Morozowski, SS Mark Karaviotis and 3B Josh Anderson all had two-hit games for Hillsboro.
Rookie Missoula 2, Orem 6. Kai-Wei Lin lost his first decision, allowing five runs (four earned) in five innings, on six hits and a walk, with five strikeouts. DH Eudy Ramos had two hits, 1B Kyle Smith hit his four home-run, and 2B Paxton De La Garza drew a pair of walks for the Osprey.
AZL D-backs 1 @ Angels 7. The D-backs were held to just two hits, one by DH Chris Herrmann who started a rehab assignment tonight, as he comes back from a strained hamstring. RF Juan Araujo got the other hit, but also committed one of the team’s two errors. Cameron Smith took the loss, allowing two runs over 4.1 innings.
