Triple-A Reno 7, Sacramento 3. C Dan Rohlfing had played 24 games in the minors this year without a home-run, but that ended for the Aces tonight, as he hit a pair, along with a single and a walk. His first got Reno on the board in the second for a 1-0 lead, and his second, a three-run shot, broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth. Anthony Banda had a solid start, allowing two runs over six innings on seven hits and a walk, albeit with just the one K. 3B Carlos Rivero doubled and singled for the Aces, and CF Mitch Haniger doubled and walked, scoring twice.
Double-A Mobile 2, Biloxi 1. 1B Kevin Cron singled with two outs in the ninth to give the Bay Bears a walk-off win, after 2B Kevin Medrano had been thrown out at home-plate earlier in the inning. Mobile prevailed, despite being outhit 8-5; Cron had two of those hits, driving in both their runs, and also walked. SS Domingo Leyba tripled and walked, scoring both runs. Taylor Clarke got a no-decision for his five innings of one-run ball on four hits, walking none and striking out one. The Mobile bullpen tossed four scoreless, Joey Krehbiel fanning two of the three batters he faced.
High-A Visalia 9, Modesto 2. SS Robelys Reyes have a four-hit night, stealing two bags and crossing home-plate three times, as the Rawhide cracked 13 hits in total. 1B Cody Regis had three, as well as a walk, and drove in a pair. Joel Payamps had an excellent start, allowing a pair of unearned runs over seven innings, allowing only one hit and one walk, striking out nine. Nick Baker then tosses two scoreless innings to complete the victory for Visalia.
A-ball Kane County 2, Cedar Rapids 10. A night to forget for the Cougars, who took the lead in the first, then surrendered 10 unanswered runs before scoring again. Sam McWilliams pitched into the sixth, being charged with five runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk, with two strikeouts. But the bullpen struggled, Kane County pitchers walking 10 Kernels all told. C Francis Christy had a good game though, driving in both runs with three hits. SS Luis Alejandro Basabe reached base all four time up, with two hits and two walks.
A short Hillsboro 4, Boise 0. Bo Takahashi and Palmer Betts combined on a three-hit shutout of the Hawks for the Hops tonight. Takahashi got the W, going five innings on two hits, with a a walk and two strikeouts. Betts picked up the save for four relief innings of one-hit ball, with no walks and four K's. The Hops seven hits came from seven different hitters; LF Chad Oberacker and C Luke Lowery each had a hit, a walk and an RBI, Oberacker also stealing a base.
Rookie Missoula 5, Idaho Falls 4. Erbert Gonzalez blew a three-run lead in the ninth, but got the win, as RF Jacy Cave walked off with his second home-run of the year, and fourth hit of the night, He finished a double short of the cycle for the Osprey. 3B Eudy Ramos got two hits, including his 10th home-run. Rafael Pujols was the best of the Missoula pitchers, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings on two hits, with no walks and a pair of strikeouts.
AZL D-backs 0 @ Giants 2. The D-backs were held to six hits here, the rehabbing Socrates Brito going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. 1B Francis Martinez got a pair of hits, but the D-backs didn't get a walk, extra-base hit or knock with runners in scoring position. Kei-Wei Lin didn't pitch badly, allowing two runs in five innings, on four hits and two walks with two K's. Jeremiah Muhammad was effective in three scoreless innings, with two hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
