The D-backs selected 32 of their 40 selections from the collegiate ranks. This year’s draft class is comprised of: 6 catchers, 8 infielders, 6 outfielders, 15 right-handed pitchers and 5 left-handed pitchers.

Coastal Carolina infielder Connor Owings, brother of D-backs' INF/OF Chris Owings, was selected with the second-annual "Cory Hahn 34th Pick." Owings, who was named a Louisville Slugger Second-Team All-American and the Big South Conference Player of the Year, entered play today hitting .373 (81-for-217) with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 15 homers and 51 RBI in 63 games as a senior for the Chanticleers. Coastal Carolina is currently playing Louisiana State University in the NCAA Super Regionals, and is seeking its first College World Series berth in program history. The selection takes place each year and is named after Hahn, who currently works in the D-backs' scouting department. Hahn wore No. 34 for ASU and was selected with the 34th pick in the 2013 draft.

In addition, Arizona selected 4 players from Canada, the most of any team in baseball: C Andy Yerzy (second round), RHP Taylor Curtis (fourth), RHP Jacob Polancic (11th) and C Luke Van Rycheghem (23rd). Entering this year's draft, the D-backs had selected 7 players from Canada in team history.
