It does not appear, unlike last time, that O'Brien has been brought up here to sit on the bench and hold Rickie Weeks Jr's coat.

The move does leave the team somewhat over-stocked in the outfielder department, but I suspect that is going to take care of itself tomorrow, as the team has also announced they'll be bringing Zack Godley up to start tomorrow's game against the Marlins. That will require another roster move: could see Chris Owings, who has been out of the line-up since June 5, hitting the DL, possibly we may see one of the veterans, most likely Weeks, or could it even be the move many have been calling for, optioning Yasmany Tomas to the minors? It sounds like Owings may be close to returning, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Corbin has had his share of struggles this year, with an April ERA of 4.88, and even higher in May (5.03). But his start in Chicago was likely his best of the year, considering the quality of the opposition faced (his only higher Game Score came in Atlanta against the Braves. So "divide by two" seems about the right discount). The key was the lack of walks: when Corbin walks one or fewer batters this year, his ERA has been 3.43 (17 ER in 44.2 IP); when he walks two or more, that balloons to a brutal 6.83 (21 ER in 27.2 IP). It also helps keep his pitch count down. His three longest outings this year, by number of pitches, have all been in the latter group; his three longest by innings, are all in the former.
