Josh Collmenter threw 3 innings in a real baseball game last night, starting for the Visalia Rawhide. He gave up no runs on 2 hits and a walk with 3 strikeouts. A good sign for his rehab efforts and meaning he could be joining the big club in the not-too-distant future.
The team did announce its minor league awards for April with Peter O'Brien garnering Hitter of the Month and Justin Donatella getting pitcher of the month. Here's the rest of the awards.

AAA: Reno 2 @ Fresno 5. Reliever Edwin Escobar got the start and went 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. Cody Hall and Adam Loewen each tacked on two shutout innings to keep the game close. Socrates Brito did his part to tie the game with a 2-run homer in the 4th. It stayed that way until Kaleb Fleck got roughed up for 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th and that was the game. The offense managed just 5 hits with an ugly 12 strikeouts, 3 each by Peter O'Brien, Brito and Evan Marzilli.
AA: Mobile - game cancelled due to wet grounds.
A+: Visalia 1 @ High Desert 2. The much-anticipated rehab outing for Josh Collmenter went according to plan with 3 shutout innings on 2 hits and a walk while striking out 3. Chuck Taylor took over from there and went the rest of the way giving up a couple of runs on 8 hits with 3 strikeouts. But that wasn't good enough as the offense compiled just one run on 6 hits. Domingo Leyba had 2 hits including a double.
A: Kane County 3 Lake County 2. Organizational Pitcher of the Month Justin Donatella picked up his 4th win of the year with a yeoman's effort going 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk while striking out 3. He's sporting a 0.94 ERA in 28+ innings giving up 23 hits with 23 strikeouts versus just 3 walks. The offense did him the favor of making that good enough for the win, though just barely so. Raymel Flores scored 2 of those runs via a walk and a hit and drove in one. Trevor Mitsui went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Reliever Jared Miller was dominating striking out 6 of 7 batters in a 2-inning save.
