Diamondbacks Option Slugger Peter O'Brien to AAA Reno

The Diamondbacks were planning on pitching Edwin Escobar for tomorrow afternoon, so they needed to clear out a roster spot. After the game, the Diamondbacks announced that they've optioned OF Peter O'Brien to AAA Reno. O'Brien had only one AB in his stint, a strikeout in Friday night's game.

Escobar is 1-1 with a 4.68 ERA in Reno in 5 starts. The ERA is misleading because of one outing where he gave up 11 runs scored and 9 of them earned. His other 4 starts he's gone 6+ innings and allowed 1 earned run or less. Escobar debuted for the Red Sox in 2014. The Red Sox designated him for assignment earlier this month and the Diamondbacks claimed him off waivers.
