Dammit, as if losing the first two games of the series in irritating fashion wasn't enough, the Diamondbacks are now making us get up early to watch them try and avoid the sweep? I'll do it, but I want you to know: I'm not happy about it. Baseball games should not be all but over before I start work. That's just not natural. I guess it's a result of getaway day, and the team having to fly back across country to start a Padres series tomorrow night. If only there had been an off-day instead. Like the one scheduled for Monday, allowing the team made the arduous trek, in their covered wagons, from St. Louis to Pittsburgh.
Yeah, I haven't had my coffee yet. You can probably tell. I just hope the D-backs produce a better performance than in the first two games, because otherwise, I'm going to be grumpy all day. No pressure, Mr. Corbin. On the plus side, Segura's head has stopped ringing like the Liberty Bell - hang on, that's Philadelphia, not Pittsburgh. What can I say, it's early? He is back in the line-up and hitting leadoff. Hopefully there won't be any ill-effects, such as Jean swinging at passing sea-gulls. Herrmann also gets catching duties today. If only there was an All-Star spot reserved for backup catchers. He'd get my vote this year.
Anyway, I'm gonna gut this short. You're probably about as inclined to read as I am to write. Where's my caffeine?
