This game was much more fun than the last one I went to. Which is good, because, unlike that game, my dinner wasn't worth talking about. Tonight had a good mix of the offense showing up when needed, and an overall great pitching performance
Both teams got the scoring started fairly early with single tallies in both halves of the second inning. For the Yankees, it came in the form of a Starlin Castro solo homer. For the Dbacks, it came courtesy of a Nick Ahmed RBI single after a Chris Owings, two out triple. Tied at one
The Dbacks kept up the pressure in the third. Jean Segura and Chris Hermann both lead off the inning with singles, brining up Goldy with two on, and no one out. He didn't hit a three run homer to "shut these damn Yankees fans up" like I loudly requested at the game, but he did hit an RBI single to score Segura and move Hermann to second. Jake Lamb struck out, but Wellington Castillo kept the bus moving with an RBI single of his own. That was all that inning, despite a double steal by Paul Goldshmidt and Beef to put runners at second and third with only the one out. Yasmany Tomas hit a very soft and shallow fly ball to right, and Chris Owings grounded out to end the inning. 3-1 Diamondbacks
In the fifth, Arizona added a couple more to their lead. Goldschmidt walked with one out. I know, you're shocked. That brought Lamb back to the plate. It wasn't quite his three run pool shot from yesterday, but I'll settle for a two run pool shot instead :-) 5-1 Good Guys
Meanwhile, Zach Greinke was dealing. He ended up going seven plus innings tonight. His line of three runs, on five hits, zero walks, and seven strike outs would have looked a lot better if he hadn't gone out for the eighth. Through seven, he had only allowed one run, on three hits. However, he left the game with runners on first and third, no body out, for Daniel Hudson. Huddy wasn't the best he's ever been tonight and allowed both those inherited runners to score, making the score much closer than it had any right to be after the offensive futility the Yankees had demonstrated for seven innings. He did leave the inning with a two run lead intact, however, which was all that mattered. 5-3 Dbacks
And that was all she wrote tonight. The Dbacks went quietly in the bottom of the eighth, Zeigler did his thing in the ninth, and a depressingly large crowd of Yankees fans left sad tonight. It was a good day. The Giants, Dodgers, and Rockies all won today, so it doesn't help us out a whole lot there. In the end, though, we got our first series win at home of the season and the first regular season series win against the Yankees. Not bad for a day's work.

Looks like you all had fun in the GDT. I wouldn't know. I gave up trying to get it to load on my phone at the ball park. #FirstWorldProblems. Going to give a joint CotN to SenSurround and DC for pretty well summing up my feelings on the team, both this season and in general
Accurate! Thirty one of you combined for 521 comments tonight.DC had over four times the number of comments of second place. Everyone else who showed up was:

This team is confusing
"How much money can we offer Brandon Lyon without making him suspicious?"
