Diamondbacks recall Jake Barrett

The bullpen merry-go-round makes another spin!

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jake Barrett from Triple-A Reno, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart. Following last night's game, RHP Dominic Leone was optioned to Reno. Barrett, 24, has appeared in 6 games for the D-backs (3.86 ERA, 3 ER in 7.0) this season, his first in the Majors. In 3 games for the Aces, he is 1-0 with 1 save and 2.2 scoreless innings.

Leone had been the mop-up guy in the last two games of the St. Louis series, and hadn't done much to justify a longer stay, allowing three runs over 2.2 innings, on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Barrett last appeared for the Diamondbacks on April 16, so stayed in the minor leagues for the minimum 10 days necessary before being called back up. He last appeared for the Aces on April 26. I imagine we will be sticking with the 13-man pitching staff, at least through the next schedule off-day after this weekend.
