Yoan Lopez showed off with another sparkling outing for Mobile last night in their 6-0 win over Jacksonville. He's gone 6 innings in all three of his starts this year allowing 12 hits in those 18 innings with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks. It seems the payoff for the recent Cuban investments needed a year of adjustment as both Lopez and Yazmany Tomas are starting to display their talents. Now SSS and all so don't want to get too excited just yet but I like what I'm seeing so far.

AAA: Reno 5 @ Albuquerque 9. Kyle Drabek got hammered for 8 runs over the first 2 innings and that was pretty much it for this one. The bullpen did fine shutting out the Isotopes the rest of the way but it was a bridge too far for the offense. Mike Freeman did his part on offense with 3 hits, a walk and an RBI. Kyle Jensen and Carlos Rivero each hit solo home runs while Peter O'Brien collected a couple of singles.
AA: Mobile 6 @ Jacksonville 0. Yoan Lopez is getting it done in his second season with the organization posting his 3rd straight sharp outing with 6 shutout innings on 5 hits and a walk. The offense broke it open early with 4 runs in the second inning capped off by Mitch Haniger's 2-run double. Stewart Ijames brought his lumber with a 3 for 4 game that included a double, his first home run of the year and 3 RBI. Michael Perez went 2 fior 4 with a walk, a double and an RBI.
A+: Visalia 2 Stockton 15. Visalia's hot start to the season took a blow with a 15-2 shellacking as Miller Diaz got roughed up for 8 runs over the first 3 innings. The bullpen allowed 7 more with Zac Curtis taking the brunt of that with 5 runs allowed, though just 3 were earned. Not much the offense could do in response to all that. Rudy Flores, Henry Castillo and Grant Heyman each had 2 hits with Heyman also driving in 2.
A: Kane County 3 Beloit 0. Alex Young was outstanding for the 3rd straight time this season putting up 5 shutout innings on just 2 hits and a walk while striking out 3. Gabriel Moya and Cameron Gann went the final 4 frames without allowing a hit or a run, Gann getting his 3rd save. Zach Nehrir provided all the offense that was needed when he delivered a 2-run single in the 3rd. Robelys Reyes, Galli Cribbs and Matt McPhearson each had 2 hits.
