"YOU DON'T CALL IT SAN FRAN OR FRISCO. YOU CALL IT SAN FRANCISCO OR THE CITY" is something a few people have said to me over the years after using those abbreviations. You should try it, they *really* get riled up about it. It's kinda fun. I don't really have anything against San Francisco beyond that (though demanding "The City" as a moniker is reeeeeeeeeeallllly pretentious), it's lovely, there's stuff to do, it's fun for a trip, and it's my favorite city where I've been drunk on a train. It's also the home of the Giants, who are dumb, smelly, and mean. #Analysis.

Archie Bradley is starting his first game of the season in place of Rubby De La Rosa. That's a sentence I kind of expected to write this season, but not under these circumstances. Rubby was apparently not up to starting today after letting Melvin Upton homer in San Diego to prevent a sweep, so the team recalled Bradley yesterday. Archie's issue, and it's one that many pitchers have, is control and walking people. In two starts for Reno this year, Bradley has a K/9 of 12.2, which is good! However, he has a BB/9 of 6.8, which is bad! He's also still only 23 years old, which seems wrong somehow, but he was drafted out of high school (and was spared future horrific injury and Mike Stoops proximity by not going to Oklahoma to play football.)

The Giants are throwing out Jake Peavy, who has one of Brandon Webb's Cy Young Awards. He's also been in the league since 2002 and yet is only 34, but one day time's march will consume you Peavy.. Yes... Yeeeeeeeessssss. He also has an ERA of exactly 10.00 on the season, and one way or another that will be wrecked for people with round number fetishes. It probably will go Down some, as his FIP is 3.11, unless the Diamondbacks get him All Mixed Up.

Also hitting the presses today is that Tyler Wagner was called up, which cool, and going down is... Socrates Brito. This doesn't make sense to me on multiple levels, but I'll refer to this tweet:

Chris Owings full time Center Fielder feels kinda yucky, and it seems like the FO is running around like a chicken with its head cut off as to what to do about the lack of Pollock. Honestly, the Michael Bourn rumors made more sense than this.

Anyway, while I'm Mad Online(TM), the game starts at 7:15, cause San Francisco cares about your time slightly more than a team down south does on Friday nights.
