Not really too much in the way of surprises here, though a little surprised to see Hernandez - considered to have an outside shot at the backup catcher's spot, at least until Tuffy Gosewisch proved his fitness - be sent all the way fown to High-A Visalia. Players with options don't usually get dropped that far, though with Hernandez being a Rule 5 pick last year, he is a bit of a special case. Of the players re-assigned to minor-league camp, Stites is likely the biggest name, having appeared in 37 games during the 2014 season, and 11 last year. For him now to be part of the first round of roster cuts shows how far his star has fallen since then.
The move leaves the Diamondbacks with 59 players remaining in camp, so there will certainly be a lot more moves to follow in the coming weeks.
