In a move that probably shouldn't surprise anyone, especially after Zack Godley was reassigned to minor league camp earlier today, Robbie Ray has been confirmed as the #5 starter for the Diamondbacks to start out the 2016 season. Ray was acquired from the Tigers in the 2014-2015 offseason and pitched 127.2 innings for the Diamondbacks last season. He put up a 3.52 ERA, a 116 ERA+, and a 3.53 FIP. He's put up a 3.95 ERA in 13.2 IP in Spring Training, and tossed 6.1 innings in a minor-league outing this afternoon, with 10 strikeouts.
The Diamondbacks rotation is set as follows, in some order:
1. Zack Greinke (RHP)
2. Shelby Miller (RHP)
3. Patrick Corbin (LHP)
4. Rubby de la Rosa (RHP)
5. Robbie Ray (LHP)
Of course, the rotation won't stay as such all season, barring injury luck and/or great performance. How do you think this rotation as a whole stacks up in the NL West?
