Yep, no Robbie Ray tonight, as he threw instead in a minor-league game at Salt River Fields. It went pretty well, Ray tossed 6.1 innings, allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts (yeah, but they were minor-league strikeouts, so what's the exchange rate there?). 91 pitches in total, and according to Nick Piecoro, Ray "was 95-96 mph in the seventh inning." That'll do, Robbie. That'll do. And, apparently, it did as far as Chip Hale was concerned, officially naming Ray as the team's fifth starter. We'll have more on that in a bit, but I think, based on spring performances, I don't think many Diamondbacks' fans will argue with the decision.

On that basis, I'm not too concerned about the result in this one, given we've got a starter who, with all respect, should not be part of our 2016 plans, unless something goes severely wrong. Be nice to see the offense tee off a bit, as ever. Especially against Chris Heston, who had a 1.93 ERA in four starts against the Diamondbacks last year. This one is on MLB.tv, if you are so inclined.
