+ also (in no particular order) Steve Hathaway, Gabriel Moya, Brad Ziegler, R.J. Hively, Jake Barrett, John Omahen, Seth Simmons, Kaleb Fleck, Jose Cisnero
Banda appears to be the stand-in of choice for the Diamondbacks, since as I recall, he started one of the final warm-up games at Chase Field last season, in place of one of our "regular" guys. Here, though not getting to hit eighth, he'll be replacing Zack Greinke, who doesn't want to go up against a divisional rival shortly before the season starts. If we stay on schedule, Zack's third outing would be in San Diego on Jackie Robinson Day, though I suppose it's not as if he is an entirely unfamiliar quantity after three seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation! Still, Zack will be getting his work on, back at Salt River.
If we're to extend our unbeaten run to another eight-game streak (albeit, this time including a tie), we will also have to do it without Paul Goldschmidt. His part today - both at first-base and in the #3 spot of the order - will be played by Phil Gosselin. Maybe there will be some kind of partial refund available at Peoria for disgruntled ticket purchasers.
