The Major League Baseball season started in April. If you want to go back further than that, Pitchers and Catchers reported for the first time on February 19th (the Angels, if you were curious about the team) Tonight is the last game of the World Series. Seven and a half month of preparation, regular season, and playoffs all meet at this one point. Then, poof. Gone. No more Baseball til 2017. We head into the long, dark, offseason of the soul.
(If you really wanna get depressed, look up when the Iowa Caucus happened and note that the election is next Tuesday)
Grant over at the mothership put it very well in an article that's a good read: One of these teams is gonna be so sad after tonight. I remember being filled with ennui and frustration for hours after Game 5 of the 2011 NLDS, I can't even fathom what coming so close after 68/108 years and not winning would be like.
On the other hand, the team that wins is gonna be pretty stoked, so that's cool.
