Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 9/6: Isan Diaz Continues to Impress

New, 6 comments

It's hard not to keep noticing Missoula shortstop Isan Diaz as he continues to impress in his 19-year-old season. In a forgettable double header sweep for the Osprey Diaz was the lone bright spot going 3 for 6 with a walk, a double and 2 runs scored. He might sneak onto my season ending Top 20 prospects list.

AAA: Reno 4 El Paso 7. Todd Glaesmann delivered a 2-out, 2-run double in the bottom of the 9th to tie this one up. But the bullpen blew it in the 10th when Kaleb Fleck gave up 3 runs. Jeremy Hellickson bumped Aaron Blair from his regular start to make a rehab appearance and wasn;t bad going 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. Blair followed and spun 3 innings allowing just an unearned run on 2 hits. Nick Buss reached base 4 times on 2 hits and 2 walks.

AA: Mobile 2 @ Pensacola 15. Braden Shipley started and got bounced for 3 runs in the 1st and 3 more in the 5th before exiting. Jake Barrett and J.R. Bradley combined to give up 8 runs in the 8th and this one was never in doubt. The offense had just 4 hits with Gabby Guerrero driving in 2 runs.

A+: Visalia 3 Lake Elsinore 5. In his first start in the Dbacks organization Miller Diaz was not too hot though he went 7 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and a walk with 9 strikeouts. That was more than the offense could handle. Jamie Westbrook had 3 hits and Gerson Montilla hit his 9th home run.

A: Kane County 3 Peoria 2. Hector Hernandez had a nice outing going 5 innings allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts. Victor Reyes drove in 2 runs on 2 hits including a double. Zac Curtis picked up his 33rd save with 2 strikeouts.

A-: Hillsboro 3 Eugene 2. Tyler Mark was decent going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk with 5 strikeouts. The bullpen was even better as Jeferson Mejia tossed 3 shutout innings giving up no hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Kevin Simmons pitched a shutout 9th for his 1st save. Grant Heyman had 2 of the team's 4 hits and Dansby Swanson walked twice.

R: Missoula 0/4 Great Falls 7/7:The Osprey got tagged for a doubleheader loss. In the first Yefrey Ramirez got buzzed for 7 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks. All 4 hits against him were home runs. The offense replied with 4 singles. In the late game Anfernee Benitez couldn't get out of the 3rd before giving up 6 runs, though all 6 were unearned.
