Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 9/5: Marks Pitches Hops to Win

Troy Marks has pitched for 5 different Dbacks affiliates this year and last night led Hillsboro to a 4-1 win.

AAA: Reno 0/2 El Paso 10/4: The Aces got swept in a double header as RJ Hively got beat in the first game when he allowed a 4 spot in the 2nd inning from which the offense couldn't recover. In the nightcap they got blasted when Blayne Weller and Breett Shanking combined to give up 10 runs. Jamie Romak had a double and a home run in game one. In the late game Nick Evans had 2 hits.

AA: Mobile 6 @ Pensacola 3.John Omahen was decent giving up 3 runs (2 earned) over 6.2 innings. Daniel Gibson got the final 7 outs without allowing a hit for his 2nd save. Sean Jamieson drove in 2 runs on 3 hits including a double to lead the offense. Garrett Webber had 2 hits with a double and an RBI.

A+: Visalia 9 Lake Elsinore 8. The Rawhide built a 9-3 lead through 6 innings then held on for dear life to win by one. Lucas Irvine went 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8. Nick Sarianides gave up an unearned run in the 9th but earned his 28th save. Jamie Westbrook hit his 16th home run while Chuck Taylor drove in 2 runs on 2 doubles and walked twice. Breland Almadova went 3 for 4 with his 4th home while also stealing a base. Jose Queliz hit his 3rd homer.

A: Kane County 2 Peoria 1. Both teams scored a run in the first inning then there was no more scoring until the bottom of the 10th on a Dawel Lugo walk followed by a bunt and an error. Four pitchers combined on the shutout. Scott Schults started with 4 shutout innings, Brad Keller added 3 and Nick Baker 2 more. Zac Curtis pitched the 10th to earn the win. Colin Bray had 2 hits.

A-: Hillsboro 4 Eugene 1. Troy Marks was very good posting 6 strong innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 8. Three relievers followed with a shutout inning each as Brody Greer picked up his 5th save. Luis Veras led the offense with 3 hits including a double and an RBI. Sergio Alcantara went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Grant Heyman and Trevor Mitsui each added 2 hits.
