Diamondbacks 4, Padres 2

Our Venezuelans were in full force this afternoon, Ender Inciarte and David Peralta driving in all the runs, as Arizona won their final road series of 2015.

Zack Godley was the first of our double-headed starting pitching this afternoon and did his share of the job. throwing three scoreless innings on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. He was followed to the mound by Jhoulys Chacin, who also worked three innings, but was not quite as successful, being responsible for the Padres tying the game up at two in the fifth; he scattered three hits and a walk, with four strikeouts. But, in one of those scoring vagaries, he still got the W. Andrew Chafin, Matt Reynolds and Daniel Hudson tossed a couple of scoreless, getting the ball to Brad Ziegler for a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Ender Inciarte was the engine-room of the offense, though it was David Peralta who got the D-backs on the board, with his 17th home-run of the season, leading off the fourth. Inciarte got a two-out homer in the fifth inning, and then went one better, delivering a two-run shot, also off James Shields, in the seventh. Inciarte finished the game with four hits, three RBI and a pair of runs scored. A.J. Pollock drew three walks, with Peralta, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jake Lamb each getting a hit and a walk. The win sends the D-backs back to Arizona with a two-game lead over the Padres in the battle for third, with six games left for us.
