Diamondbacks 3, Cardinals 5: Swept away

This game was stupid.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Things were bad, then they were okay, then they were bad again.

What do I mean by that? Well, Rubby De La Rosa gave up 3 runs in the first 2 innings, and seemed to be destined to have a bad loss hung on him. Chip Hale gave him some encouragement, though, and he locked it down for awhile, at least until the 5th inning when he gave up a 2 run homer to Brandon Moss to give the Cardinals the permanent lead,

The Diamondbacks tried to make it interesting and avoid the sweep by scoring 3 of their own runs in the 2nd inning to tie the game David Peralta, Welington Castillo, Jake Lamb, and Ender Inciarte linked up with a series of singles to get three runs across.

Arizona got the bases loaded in the 8th with no outs, but in predictable Diamondbacks fashion, they were unable to get any runs out of the deal.
