Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 8/21: Palka Hits 25th HR

In a night without a lot of good news Daniel Palka hit his 25th home run in Visalia's win. It was his 5th home run in his last 6 games.

AAA: Reno 1 @ Oklahoma City 2. Blayne Weller was decent allowing 2 runs over 5.1 innings on 5 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. But the offense was a no-show with 2 hits and 1 run. Both hits were doubles, one by Mike Freeman and the other by Jamie Romak.

AA: Game 1. Mobile 3 @ Jacksonville 11. In a makeup of Thursday's game, this one was close until Jimmie Sherfy got mauled for 7 runs while getting just 2 batters out. WillLocante was also bad allowing 3 runs while recording 2 outs. The offense had 7 hits with no multi-hit performances.

AA: Game 2. Mobile 1 @ Jacksonville 2. Braden Shipley was very sharp and is on a bit of a roll right now. He gave up just one unearned run on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 3. The offense could only scratch out one run of their own and the game was lost when Adam Miller allowed another unearned run in the bottom of the 8th. Four hits was the total for the offense.

A+: Visalia 6 Rancho Cucamonga 4. Daniel Palka got things going with his 25th home run in the 1st inning, and Alex Glenn delivered the big go-ahead blow with a 2-run shot in the 6th. Ryan Doran was okay giving up 3 runs in 5.2 innings. Nick Sarianides threw a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts for his 22nd save. A rehabbing Phil Gosselin added 2 singles and an RBI.

A: Kane County 2 Quad Cities 3. The Cougars scored in the 1st and second innings but could get no more. Brad Keller was cruising then gave up a 3 spot in the 5th and that was the difference. He finished with those 3 runs allowed on 5 hits and 3 walks. The offense banged out 10 hits but couldn't get the big hit. Elvin Soto had 3 hits with a double and Victor Reyes added 2 hits with a double and an RBI.

A-: Hillsboro 1 Boise 7.The Hops got behind early when starter Tyler Mark gave up 4 in the 2nd inning and they were never in it after that. Mark was gone before 5 allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. Dansby Swanson drilled a couple of doubles and drove in the only run.

R: Missoula 5 @ Billings 3. Anfernee Benitez gave up 3 runs in the 1st inning but was special after that. He tacked on 5 subsequent shutout innings and finished with 10 strikeouts. That was good enough to get the win when the offense put up 4 runs in the 7th to gain the lead they would keep. Dan Savas picked up his 14th save. Kal Simmons had 3 hits and Isan Diaz reached base 3 times with a single and 2 walks as well as stealing a base. Matt Railey also had a single, 2 walks and a stolen base.
