Diamondbacks 5, Reds 4: More like Arizona Comebacks riiiiiiiiight

Record: 59-61. Pace: 80-82. Change over last season: +7.

It wasn't a great start for Patrick Corbin, who went only 2 innings and gave up 4 runs on 8 hits. He only made 47 pitches, but with the Reds squaring up on him so well it's understandable why Chip Hale would call in Collmenter to take the middle part of the game.

Arizona's bullpen rose to the occasion, though, with Collmenter, Chafin, Hudson, and Ziegler combining to go 7 innings and only giving up 2 hits.

The Diamondbacks might have faced an early 4-0 deficit, but they made a game of it. Chris Owing got the first Arizona run of the game in the 5th by launching a solo homer. Ender Inciarte, a most eligible bachelor if my Facebook feed is any indication, then hit a double, and was brought home with an AJ Pollock single. The third run came in the 6th when Hill, Tomas, and Owings linked up back-to-back-to-back singles.

Arizona finally took lead in the 8th, scoring 2 runs with 2 outs. Yasmany got an infield hit, which was followed by a double from Salty. Ender walked to load the bases and set the table for Pollock, who hit a 2 RBI single for the lead.

Daniel Hudson had some trouble in the bottom of the 8th, allowing 2 runners on without getting an out. He slowed the pace down, though, and managed to escape the inning without giving up a run.

Ziegler came into close out the game, and made it pretty easy to convert his 20th straight save opportunity.

A few other notes:

As noted on the broadcast, Pollock stole his 30th base of the year, becoming the 3rd Diamondback to steal at least 30 in a season, and the first since 2007 (name the last one!)

The Diamondbacks struck out 10 times, which was almost matched by the Reds 9 strikeouts.
