SnakePit Fantasy Baseball Week 18

There are four weeks left in the regular season, and the playoff picture is beginning to take shape...

Week 18 Results

AZ SnakePit 3, Trail-Hitters 6
Trail got five home-runs and nine RBI out of Davis, but their pitching powered them here, coming within one W of a sweep on the mound. Salazar and Keuchel each notched a W and eight strikeouts for them. Snake got three HR and five RBI by Cruz, Pollock adding nine R and four SB.

MyWieterGetzLongoria 6. Socrates Burritos 3
Socrates had Hitter of the Week Davis, with five HR and 10 RBI, but that wasn't enough to defeat Wieter, for whom Sano and Peralta each drove in seven, and the team hit .299. Chen added two Wins and 12 K's; Ventura got a Win and 15 strikeouts for the Burritos in a losing cause.

Angry Saguaro 4. Smell the Glove 6
Smell's pitching was dominant hurling their way to a 1.71 ERA and 0.83 WHIP - Carrasco had 15 strikeouts and Rosenthal a trio of saves. Santiago fanned nine for the Saguaro, who did better at the dish, where Gonzalez and Puig homered twice, but so did Cespedes as Glove hung on.

Dirk Ziegler 2, Rougned Hodor 8
Three saves from Osuna and Rodriguez, plus ten strikeouts from Gray, helped power Hodor to a solid victory; their offense was led by Schwarber, who had two home-runs and drove in six. Kemp had two HR and eight RBI for Dirk, and Pence also chipped in with a couple of long balls.

Alabama Slammers 2, What the Hellickson? 8
The week's biggest shock saw second-placed Alabama soundly defeated, keeping What's post-season hopes alive. Hellickson dominated on both sides, getting three HR from Desmond, Hutchinson adding two W + 11 K. Miller struck out 10 for Alabama, who managed only three HR + 19 R.

Mizzoula Osprey 8, Waffles 2
Greinke led the Osprey with two Wins and 14 K, despite Waffles countering with two Wins and 12 strikeouts by Cueto; they also got three Sv from Tolleson. But Mizzoula dominated hitting, with Hosmer whacking three HR, driving in ten runs, while Parra homered twice and scored eight times.

CGS 6, Yasmany as Possible 3
CGS kept pace at the top, behind Pitcher of the Week Bumgarner, who struck out 26 over his two Wins; Jansen saved three, while at the dish, Braun had two homers and seven RBI. Yasmany went down, despite Sale's two W and 22 strikeouts; Belt matched Braun, also hitting two HR + seven RBI.

It's the last-listed game which is the ESPN Game of the Week, CGS taking on Waffles in a battle of third versus fourth. Both sides still have a shot at catching second-placed Alabama, and getting themselves a bye through the first round of the playoffs. But with only three weeks left after this, a heavy defeat for either could prove severely destructive to  If history is anything to go by, CGS will be feeling confident, for this will be a rematch of a contest in week 6, which they won handily, by a 7-2 margin.
