It's unusual, I think, to see a team installed as favorites when they are currently only in possession of the sixth-best win-loss record in the majors: the Blue Jays currently trail the Royals in the American League, as well as the Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs and Dodgers from the American League. But such an unstoppable force has Toronto been of late, winning 11 in a row as they climbed from third-place in the AL East, six back of the Yankees, into sole possession of first. Their run differential of +140 is also the highest in the majors, so I'd be hard pushed to argue with anyone calling them the best team, right now.
Looking at our own division, having the Giants at 14-1 seems remarkably low, considering it looks increasingly likely that the only route to the post-season is going to be if they can overhaul the Dodgers, from their current position of 3.5 games back; they now trail the Cubs for the second wild-card spot by a full five games. It also seems a bit disrespectful to give us and the Padres the same odds of 200-1, given we are three games up on them in the standings. A.J. Preller must be wagering heavily on his own team. :)
So, where would you wager your notional SnakePit dollars, people?
