Triple-A Reno 5, Round Rock 6. Edgar Garcia scattered seven hits over five innings, but walked none and struck out three, giving up four runs. 2B Mike Freeman double and singled, scoring two runs, but all the excitement came in the ninth. The Aces came in three runs down, but scored twice on a single by SS Danny Worth, and then loaded the bases with one out. A DH Jake Lamb walk tied the score, but with the winning run 90 feet away, RF Peter O'Brien fanned, and LF Nick Evans grounded out. A homer off Kevin Munson to the first batter in the 10th restored the Express's lead, and there was no further escape, the Aces going down in order.
Double-A Mobile 1, Pensacola 3. The BayBears were held to just three hits tonight, all of them singles. Brandon Sinnery got the start, and didn't pitch badly, going six innings and allowing two runs on six hits and two walks, though with only two strikeouts. Will Locante was charged with an unearned run in a hitless seventh, before Jimmie Sherfy and Derek Eitel worked scoreless innings. RF Socrates Brito was the sole bright spot for Mobile, reaching twice on a hit and a walk, stealing a pair of bases and scoring the BayBears only run.
High-A Visalia 2 @ Bakersfield 5. Blayne Weller scattered eight hits and a walk over five innings, striking out three and allowing four runs. Three relievers combined to allow an unearned run on one hit over the remaining three frames, but the Rawhide offense went hitless in five at-bats with runners in scoring position. Kevin Cron did hit hiss eleventh home-run of the year, and also walked, while SS Domingo Leyba drove in the visitors' other run, as he doubled and singled. Despite losing four in a row, Visalia still lead the North division of the California League by eight games.
A-ball Kane County 3, Bowling Green 7. The Cougars defense cost them dearly in this evening, making four errors which led to only one of the seven runs allowed by their pitchers being earned. All the gaffes were committed by their middle-infield duo of SS Ildemaro Vargas and 2B Ryan Gebhardt, with two each. Brad Keller allowed six runs over five innings, on eight hits and a walk, with one strikeout, but only one run was earned, C Stryker Trahan homered (his 8th) and doubled, driving in one run and scoring two. CF Colin Bray and DH Henry Castillo had two hits apiece, and 3B Joie Munoz doubled and walked.
DSL D-backs 1 @ Blue Jays 7. Javier Ferrand allowed one hit over four innings, but took the loss due to the earned run allowed. He walked three and struck out one. Alber Salas wa s ineffectively wild, with four walks and two HBP in two innings, leading into five earned runs. DH Rafael Santana had three hits and scored the D-backs only run, with RF Juan Araujo getting a pair of knocks.
