Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 6/26: Corbin Rehab Progressing

Patrick Corbin's rehab made further progress last night with a decent outing for AA Mobile. He went 6 innings and threw 79 pitches in his 4th rehab start holding the opponents to 2 runs (one earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. He hasn't done anything dominating yet but each start has gotten progressively better. My guess is he's got another 3 or 4 starts where he gets up to that 100 pitch mark and then might be ready to return.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Daniel Palka, Visalia 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR (12), 2 RBI
2 Stars: Jhoulys Chacin, Reno 8.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 ER, L (1-1)
1 Star: Patrick Corbin, Mobile 6 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 R, 1 ER
0 Stars: Matt Stites, Reno 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 0 K, 2 ER

AAA: Reno 1 Fresno 4. Jhoulys Chacin had a 2-hit shutout going through 8 innings when it all came undone in the 9th. In that 9th he started with a fly ball out before allowing a double and a triple that tied the game. Matt Stites followed and got mashed for 4 hits and 2 walks and the game was lost. In any case Chacin has been quite impressive in his 2 starts so far for Reno and is clearly bucking for a promotion to stabilize the big league rotation. The offense was pretty bad with just one run on 4 hits.

AA: Mobile 4 Tennessee 9. Patrick Corbin was solid allowing 2 runs (one earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks to put the team in a tie game. The bullpen effort that followed was pretty awful with Dominic Leone allowing 4 runs in the 7th and 8th followed by Jimmie Sherfy surrendering 3 more in the 9th. The offense battled with 11 hits but left too many on base to ever forge a real lead. Sean Jamieson had 3 hits from the leadoff spot while Socrates Brito and Zach Borenstein each had 2. Gabriel Guerrero drove in 2 runs.

A+: Visalia 5 @ High Desert 4. The Rawhide battled from behind with solo runs in the 8th and 9th innings to squeak out a one-run victory. They scored 4 of their 5 runs via the long ball with Mitch Haniger hitting a solo shot in the 3rd, Daniel Palka clubbing a 2-run blast in the 4th, and Kevin Cron hitting a solo bomb in the 8th that tied the game. Anthony Banda was just good enough allowing 4 runs over 6+ innings before the bullpen came on to close it down with Nick Sarianides capturing his 12th save.

A: Kane County - Rained Out

A-: Hillsboro 3 @ Vancouver 5. Carlos Hernandez was so-so giving up 4 runs (3 earned) over 5 innings though he did strike out 7. The Hops offense struggled again with 6 hits, all singles. Fernery Ozuna and Gerard Hernandez each had 2 hits.

R: Missoula 9 Billings 5. Starter Yefrey Ramirez was effective going 6 innings allowing 3 runs (one earned) on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts. The offense made sure that was good enough with a 13-hit attack combined with 9 walks, 3 doubles and a home run by Austin Byler. Former Stanford footballer Zach Hoffpauir had 3 hits, a walk and a double and is off to a fine professional start hitting .421 with a 1.132 OPS. Tyler Humphreys had 3 hits and a walk and is hitting .455. Joey Armstrong had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Marcus Wilson went 2 for 4 with a walk and a double.
