Record: 35-36. Pace: 80-82. Change over 2014: +5.
Rain delayed the game again, and it almost looked like it would be delayed or called after the wet 5th inning. The weather passed, and good thing, because the Diamondbacks fought back twice to get the win.
The Diamondbacks fell behind almost immediately, giving up 2 runs in the first and then another run in the 2nd inning for a quick 3-0 deficit. Charlie "took us Candy Mountain" Blackmon led the first off with a single, then advanced to third on an Allen Webster throwing error. DJ LeMahieu got on base with a fielder's choice, then advanced to second on an error from Nick Ahmed that also scored Blackmon. Troy Tulowitzki then hit a single to plate the second run of the inning. Nick Hundley then hit a solo home run in the second for the third run,.
The lead would hold until the 4th when Arizona struck back. The D-backs hit 3 straight doubles from Tomas, Lamb, and Owings, which the cut the lead to 3-2. Owings then advanced to third on a throwing error from pitcher David Hale, and then scored on a Nick Ahmed single.
In the 5th the Diamondbacks took the lead on a Peralta walk and Goldschmidt's 20th home run of the season. The 5-3 lead wouldn't last long, though, as it would be lost in the bottom of the inning in a decent downpour that had this writer wonder if another delay was imminent.
No further delay was to be had, and instead Webster and Delgado combined to give up the lead. Blackmon singled to lead off the inning, then proceeded to steal 2 bases. After a LeMahieu strikeout a parade of walks and hits ensued that ended with with Rockies taking a 7-5 lead.
It's at this point I had a little outro about the Diamondbacks bat going silent, BUT NO. THEY HAD TO SCORE AND COME BACK LIKE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS.
Anyways, the Rockies bullpen isn't very good, and they did some not very good things. I could get into detail, but basically they gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th, one of which was conceded on a bases loaded walk. WHO'S THE IDIOT NOW, MR MCBRIDE
