Burgos, 24, appeared in 3 rehab games with Double-A Mobile and recorded 6 strikeouts in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. In 13 relief appearances (13.2 IP) prior to his injury, he had 25 strikeouts and led Major League relievers with a 16.46 strikeouts-per-9.0-innings ratio. He recorded his first career save on May 18 @ Marlins and was the first D-backs rookie to save consecutive games (May 18-19 @ Marlins) since Juan (now J.C.) Gutierrez on Sept. 26-27, 2009 vs. Padres. Reed, 26, was 2-2 with 3 saves and a 5.92 ERA (16 ER in 24.1 IP) in 25 relief appearances with the D-backs this season.

You know that fan goodwill Dave Stewart lost as a result of the Toussaint trade? I think he may just have reclaimed at least a moderate amount of it, by acknowledging that, this season. Reed has been part of the problem with the bullpen, rather than part of the solution. Of course, Reed was another hangover from the Kevin Towers era, and we've seen regularly how little loyalty Stewart et al feel to the products of the previous administration. I do hope Reed can figure it out in Reno, but outside of David Hernandez, I can't think of too many other examples of pitchers who have benefited from a stay in Reno. See Evan Marshall's 7.17 ERA there since his demotion...
