Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 6/21: Guerrero Homers Twice for Mobile

One of our newer prospects showed off some of his talent for Mobile on Sunday by homering twice and driving in 3. Gabriel Guerrero hasn't exactly been all that impressive yet with his BA hovering in the low 200s and not a lot of power, but he's young for the level and more days like Sunday's will get him on a more upward path.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Gabriel Guerrero, Mobile 3 for 5, 2 R, 2 HR (4), 3 RBI
2 Stars: Carlos Hernandez, Hillsboro 6 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 R, 0 ER
1 Star: Sean Jamieson, Mobile 3 for 5, 2 R, 1 DBL, 1 HR (3), 1 RBI
0 Stars: Joe Munoz, Kane County 0 for 4, 3 K

AAA: Reno 3 @ Sacramento 2. Gabriel Arias had a solid outing allowing 2 runs over 6 innings on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. The bullpen took it from there with Matt Stites pitching the 9th for his second save. The offense did just enough with solo home runs by Nick Evans and Trayvon Robinson the difference makers. Matt Pagnozzi added 2 hits including a double.

AA: Mobile 11 @ Pensacola 4. The offense took charge in this one with big performances by Gabriel Guerrero, Sean Jamieson and Tom Belza. Each had 3 hits with Gerrero delivering 2 home runs and 3 RBI. Jamieson homered and doubled while Belza tripled. Brandon Sinnery got a much-needed win allowing 3 runs over 5 innings. The bullpen followed with 4 innings of one-run ball and 5 strikeouts.

A+: Visalia 3 @ Rancho Cucamonga 4. The Rawhide were in line to win this one until Nick Sarianides blew the save in the 9th allowing 2 solo home runs. John Omahen only lasted 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Keith Vance followed with 3 shutout innings and could have earned the win. The offense was pretty slim with a 2-run homer by Jamie Westbrook the primary source. Kevin Medrano added 2 hits with an RBI.

A: Kane County 4 Peoria 3. The Cougars rallied from behind for a walk-off win capped off by an RBI infield single by Michael Perez. Brad Keller was good allowing 2 runs iover 6 innings on 3 hits and a walk. Marty Herum was perfect going 2 for 2 with 2 walks. Chuck Taylor went 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI while Henry Castillo went 2 for 4 with a double.

A-: Hillsboro 2 @ Spokane 4. Carlos Hernandez was very shapr allowing just an unearned run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 7. Unfortunately the bullpen couldn't maintain the 1-1 tie as Myles Smith surrendered a walk-off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th. The offense managed a measly 4 hits with 2 by Nate Irving.

R+: Missoula 5 @ Billings 2. The Osprey rode a strong pitching performance by Yefrey Ramirez who allowed just 2 runs (one earned)) on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 5. The offense blew open a close game with 3 runs in the 8th that featured a bases-loaded double by Didimo Bracho. Austin Byler, Marcus Wilson and Zach Hoffpauir each contributed 2 hits in the game.

AZL: Dbacks 5 Giants 3. Yoan Lopez was dominating in an obvious rehab start throwing 6 shutout innings on 3 hits and no walks while striking out 6. He should be headed back to the Mobile rotation soon. The offense proved 6 hits to be enough as Ramon Hernandez drove in 2 runs and Logan Soole had a pair of hits including a triple.
