Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 6/14: 2nd Corbin Rehab Start Better

Patrick Corbin made his second rehab start, this time for Mobile, and things went considerably better than the first, though still with room for improvement. He breezed through the first 3 innings allowing a couple of harmless singles. In the 4th he gave up a leadoff single followed by a 2-run homer before striking out 2 of the next 3 hitters. In the 5th following a flyout he surrendered back-to-back singles but got an out on the second when Gabriel Guerrero threw the runner out at third. He then hit the next batter and was relieved by Jimmie Sherfy who got the final out to limit the damage. His final line was 4.2 IP giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with no walks and 3 strikeouts.

AAA: Reno 7 @ Las Vegas 8. Justin marks got roughed up for 6 runs (5 earned) over 5 innings and the Aces were never really in this one until a very late rally that fell short. Peter O'Brien hit a 3-run homer in the 8th that cut the lead to 6-4, before Dan Runzler allowed a 2-run bomb in the bottom half of the inning to reestablish a 4-run lead. They rallied once again in the 9th on a Todd Glaesmann homer and had runners on 1st and 3rd before O'Brien struck out to end the game. Danny Dorn went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and is hitting .431. Jordan Pacheco went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI.

AA: Mobile 6 Jackson 8. Patrick Corbin kept the BayBears in the game through 5 innings but Jimmie Sherfy imploded in the 6th allowing 4 runs that blew the game open. Jack Reinheimer went 4 for 5 and drove in a run while Brandon Drury had 2 hits including his 2nd home run, a solo shot in the 6th. Mitch Haniger and Sean Jamieson each added 2 hits.

A+: Visalia 8 @ Inland Empire 6. Ryan Doran got a spot start and did the most with it going 5 innings while allowing just one run on 3 hits while striking out 7. That might earn him another start. Parts of the bullpen were less impressive with Zack Godley and Mason McCullough giving up 2 and 3 runs respectively to make the game closer than it should have been. Stewart Ijames and Kevin Cron did all the offensive work. Ijames had a double and his 13th homer for 4 RBI while Cron had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Jamie Westbrook went 3 for 5.

A: Kane County 0 @ Lake County 8. This game was a lost cause from the start as Ethan Elias got waxed for 6 runs and the offense could only muster 5 hits in the shutout.
