Triple-A Reno 6 @ Las Vegas 11. PH Nick Buss doubled home the tying and go-ahead runs in the eighth, after the Aces blew a 4-1 lead, but Kevin Munson walked five of seven batters faced to cost Reno the game. The Aces scored four in the third, including LF Garrett Weber's fourth HR of the year, but Parker Frazier allowed four over five, on seven hits and three walks, with three K's. Evan Marshall also struggled, retiring one of five faced, but was only charged with one run; Seth Simmons inherited a bases-loaded, one out situation and stranded them all, before working a scoreless eighth. SS Cody Ransom had three hits and drove in a run, and 2B Jamie Romak a pair of doubles.
Double-A Mobile 4, Jackson 6 (11). The BayBears were four up after four innings, and looked to be cruising, but the Generals came back to level things with a four-run fifth off starter R.J. Hively. He didn't retire any of the five batters he faced that inning, and was charged with four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk, with five strikeouts. Will Locante, Jimmie Sherfy and the recently demoted Jake Barrett each threw two scoreless innings of relief, but Adam Miller gave up four hits and two runs in the 11th. C Ronnie Freeman had his first homer of the year, and also doubled, with two RBI; RF Socrates Brito singled and drew a pair of walks.
High-A Visalia 2 @ Inland Empire 4. C Stryker Trahan marked his first at-bat for Visalia by swatting his 12th home-run of the year, giving the Rawhide a second-inning lead, then nailed a runner in the bottom half. But starter John Omahen couldn't hold the lead, being lifted after 4.2 innings. He was charged with four runs on seven hits and three hits with four strikeouts. Joey Krehbiel threw 2.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief, and Trahan also doubled, while 2B Fidel Pena had a pair of doubles and a single, driving in the Rawhide's other tally. Their clinching of the first-half title will thus have to wait, at least another day as nearest rivals Stockton and Modesto both won.
A-ball Kane County 9 @ Fort Wayne 3. 3B Joe Munoz certainly had a night to remember. After hitting two HR in his previous 37 games this season, Munoz matched the tally tonight, driving in five and reaching base safely all five times, on four hits and a walk. Three other Cougars had two hit night, led by DH Ryan Hutchison, who doubled and singled, driving in two and scoring once. Markus Solbach improved to 6-2 for his six innings of three-run ball, on six hits and a walk, with a pair of strikeouts. Luis Ramirez, Cody Geyer and Nick Baker took things the rest of the way, combining for three innings of one-hit ball.
