Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 5/3: Shipley Roughed Up

Braden Shipley finally got to pitch a real game that didn't get washed out and had his worst outing of the season getting knocked around for 5 runs on 6 hits including 2 home runs. Shipley's last start got washed out after 2 innings  and in spite of the poor game still sports a 2.55 ERA after 5 starts.

2 Stars: John Omahen, Visalia 7 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 ER

AAA: Reno 2 @ Las Vegas 5. Blake Beavan started and was decent allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. Matt Reynolds was not allowing 2 hits and a walk without retiring a batter and letting in 3 more and when the offense went flat that was that. Five hits was all they could muster with 2 coming from Trayvon Robinson.

AA: Mobile 4 @ Biloxi 4. Braden Shipley wasn't his best allowing a pair of home runs and 5 runs before being lifted after 6 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 2. The offense battled back to within one run but came up short in the end. Mitch Haniger had 2 hits with a double and an RBI. Brandon Drury went 1 for 4.

A+: Visalia 2 Bakersfield 4. The Rawhide lost their second in a row when the bullpen slipped up in a close one. John Omahen started and was very good allowing just 1 run over 7 innings. But Daniel Gibson allowed an unearned run in the 8th that tied the game though he did strike out three. The game went to extra innings before Joey Krehbiel surrendered 2 in the top of the 10th and there was no answer to that. Jamie Westbrook led the 6-hit attack with a couple of singles.

A: Kane County 5 Beloit 4. Brad Keller was robbed of a win in a battle of bullpen meltdowns though the Cougars still won. Keller tossed 7 shutout innings on 4 hits and 3 walks and left the game with a 2-0 lead. Mason McCullough took over in the 9th and was fairly awful allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. But the offense rallied with a run in the bottom of the 9th. Bud jeter gave up a run in the top of the 10th and the offense rallied again in the bottom half capped off by Ryan Gebhardt's walk-off RBI single. Joe Munoz led the way with 3 hits including a double and 2 RBI. Colin Bray and Cody regis each added 3 hits.
