Diamondbacks 3, Cardinals 4

Josh Collmenter went 5 innings and most of the bullpen held the Cardinals at bay, but Brad Ziegler gave up a homer to Jason Heyward and a throwing error by Jordan Pacheco on a double play gave the Cardinals the series sweep.

After losing the first 2 games of the series, the Dbacks needed a good performance out of Josh Collmenter to right the ship and salvage a series with the Cardinals. After giving up a leadoff homer to Kolten Wong, Josh settled down and pitched well with better stuff than in recent appearances.

The bullpen was good enough to keep the win, with Randall Delgado, Oliver Perez, and J.C Ramirez combining for 3 scoreless innings in relief but Brad Ziegler served up a homer to Heyward and, after loading the bases, induced a grounder to Tomas who threw to home for the force there but Bourjos clipped Pacheco on the throw to 1st which caused the ball to sail into right field and give the Cardinals the win.

The offense had their chances to score, with 7 hits and 5 walks but could only get 3 off a Mark Trumbo homer and a David Peralta single and error to score 2. A.J. Pollock had 2 hits, a walk, and a stolen base while Yasmany Tomas had a single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Dbacks have a day off tomorrow before facing the Milwaukee Brewers on the road.
