Diamondbacks 4, Cubs 3: It's not a streak, but six of seven ain't so bad...

It started off well. Hellickson got a quick, 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first to get things off on the right foot. The offense also got things started nicely in the bottom of the inning. Ender Inciarte was batting lead off, and started the inning off with a single. During AJ Pollock's at bat, Jason Hammel let loose a wild pitch, and Ender went to second. Pollock grounded out, and wasn't able to move Ender along any further, but Paul Goldschmidt brought him home anyway with an RBI single. 1-0 Dbacks

Continuing the back and forth this series has been, though, the Cubs came right back in the second. With one out, Miguel Montero came up to the plate. He hit his fifth home run of the year into the left field bleachers, and tied things up at one run a piece.

After that, both teams were quiet until the bottom of the third. Nick Ahmed continued his streak of hot hitting and took the first pick that Hammel delivered in the inning, and hit it for a triple. His hitting streak is now at nine games. Jeremy Hellickson was the next batter, and he broke the tie win a sac fly to bring Ahmed home from third, but also record the first out of the inning. Ender Inciarte was up next. He got his second single of the game to keep the offense moving. Pollock struck out, but not before Ender stole second. Up next was Goldschmidt, and he capped off the offense for the Dbacks, hitting a 2 run home run to make the score 4-1

The Cubs made it close in the fifth off Hellickson, but they weren't quite able to catch up after that. Jorge Solger hit a ground rule double to deep left center field, and was brought home a Chris Coghlan home run, the second Hellickson gave up on the day. 4-3 Dbacks.

After that, though, the Dbacks shut the Cubs down for the rest of the night. Hellickson ended up going 6 2/3 innings, before being pulled for Andrew Chafin with no one on, and two outs in the seventh. Chafin got his one out, and then was replaced by Addison Reed in the eighth. Reed sat down the eight, nine, and lead off hitter for the Cubs in his inning, and Ziegler gave up one hit in the ninth to the heart of the order, but nothing came of it. 4-3 is your final score and marks the end of a very nice series of baseball!

Another day game tomorrow, because of Memorial day. 1:15 Arizona time start at the St. Louis Cardinals. Should be a good series another good series, as the Dbacks try to win their third series in a row. See you then!
