Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 5/18: Shipley Rocked

Braden Shipley had by far his worst outing of the year when he couldn't get out of the 4th inning before allowing 7 runs on 10 hits and 4 walks. He currently trails Aaron Blair in the pecking order of minor league pitchers on call for a major league call up.

AAA: Reno 3 Salt Lake 4. This was the continuation of Sunday's game which was suspended for weather. Vidal Nuno threw 6 shutout innings and was clinging to a tenuous 1-0 lead when he left the game for the relief corps. Evan marshall was called upon in the 8th and he got lit up for 4 runs on 5 hits. The offense scored 2 in the bottom of the 9th to make it close but could not get the tying run.

AAA: Reno 8 Salt Lake 8. Robbie Ray got the nod and started out with 4 shutout innings. In the 5th all hell broke loose as Ray reached 100 pitches after allowing 4 runs (just one earned). The inning didn't end until 7 runs had crossed and then another 4 runs in the 6th blew it open. Nick Evans hit a 3-run homer and both Mike Freeman and Danny Dorn collected 3 hits each.

AA: Mobile 0 Birmingham 10. This one was ugly as Braden Shipley got blown out in the 4th inning after allowing 7 runs on 10 hits and 4 walks. The offense had zero response with just 3 singles.

A+: Visalia 7 San Jose 4. There's just no beating the Rawhide right now. Blayne Weller had a serviceable outing allowing 3 runs over 6 innings. But the story was the offense which scored 7 runs over the first 4 innings and never looked back. Daniel Palka had 3 hits including a double and a triple. Breland Almadova had 2 doubles and Kevin medrano had 2 hits and 2 RBI. David Hernandez made another rehab appearance pitching a scoreless 7th alloiwing a hit and striking out 2.

A: Kane County 14 Beloit 5. The Cougars continued their recent winning ways and have finally made it back to .500 with a laugher over Beloit. Ethan Alias went 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits but 5 walks. The offense scored early and often led by 4-hit nights for both Grant Heyman and Marty Herum. heyman had 5 RBI. Stryker Trahan went 2 for 4 including his 4th home run plus 3 RBI.
