Diamondbacks 6, Nationals 9

Addison Reed stinks.

Yasmany Tomas hit a go-ahead, RBI single in the bottom of the 8th to score Mark Trumbo and give the Dbacks a 1-run lead but closer Addison Reed gave up a grand slam to Michael Taylor, who replaced Bryce Harper after he was ejected. Drew Storen then did closer things and struck out the side to clinch the game and series for the Nationals.

Jeremy Hellickson was his normal self in today's start. He went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 4 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs. The bullpen wasn't much better, as was seen above. Randall Delgado came on a gave up a homer and while Ziegler and Perez had scoreless appearances, Reed did Reed things and blew the game.

The good news was 14 hits from the offense and 5 runs scored but 23 total runners left on base is enough to ask what could have been. Paul Goldschmidt led the way with 3 hits, and was a homer away from a cycle.
